If you’re passionate about sports coaching and leadership, the NESA Coaching Academy has been designed to support your instructive development by equipping you with professional skills, qualifications and the confidence to successfully coach and lead diverse groups and individuals.

Achieving Excellence with the NESA Coaching Academy

As part of the Coaching Academy, you can take part in a wide range of volunteering experiences and work placement opportunities that will help you to gain transferable skills that can help in any industry. Gain a wide range of qualifications in refereeing and officiating and get ahead with employment opportunities from a wide range of sports partnerships. There’s also the opportunity to take part in national trips and volunteering programmes, previous participation events have included visiting the Commonwealth Games, Olympics and Rio in 2016.

Outstanding Partnerships

Through the Coaching Academy at TyneMet, students can volunteer in a wide range of roles and sports with the programme of events and competitions that we organise for the North Tyneside Schools. With such a wide range of opportunities, TyneMet students gain valuable skills and experiences within the sports coaching industry, as well as developing confidence, communication and teamwork skills.

You will also have the opportunity to work towards Sports Leaders Awards which equate to UCAS points. Through Sports Leaders you will participate in multi sports clubs in primary schools and the community, this is a pathway to paid employment.

  • 10 hours = Coaching Academy induction and a t-shirt
  • 15 hours = Access to an activator award
  • 20 hours = Polo t-shirt
  • 30 hours = Coaching Academy hoodie
  • 50 hours = Funding towards an NGB level 1 award
