International outing for NESA Netball Academy

A number of NESA Netball Academy learners, along with Sports Development Officer Sarah Bennett, visited the Echo Arena in Liverpool as the England Roses took on the Silver Ferns of New Zealand as part of an International Quad Series.

Members of the NESA Netball Academy that was set up this year, who compete in the AOC Sport regional league, watched as the visitors took the spoils.

The academy has shown promising signs in its first year in existence, the highlight of the season so far being a win over Stockton Riverside College.

Sports Development Officer, Sarah Bennett: “The game at the Echo Arena was a fantastic experience for the learners, watching International Netball has no doubt inspired them to work hard to help make the North East Netball Academy at Tyne Metropolitan College a success.

“The pace and precision at the top level is exceptional, and it gave the girls an insight on areas to improve in their own game.

“At TyneMet, we arrange a number of events for learners in all of our academies to attend which is a big reason why more and more prospective learners are choosing to come to the college.”

In the last 12 months NESA learners have attended the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, the Disney International Soccer Tournament in Orlando, Florida, and in March learners will be attending the YONEX All England Open Badminton Championships.
